THERE’S A SHE-WOLF IN YOUR CLOSET
LET IT OUT SO IT CAN BREATHE

White doves crossed over the dark fern trees on the street as Violetta strutted down the street, her heeled boots stomping lightly against the cobblestone that was bathed in warm sunlight. It wasn’t often you saw pure white doves, I mean, usually the streets and city squares were cluttered with pigeons. They were cute—to a point of course. They squawked, so that wasn’t the best thing. Pressing her sunglasses to the rim of her nose, none of this big-ass-cover-your=-whole-face business when it came to sunglasses, but a nice pair of a combination between Lara Croft and Ozzy Osbourne, Violet stopped in front of her favorite place: the coffee shop. The wind blew by and practically beckoned her into the store with the waft of espresso beans and expensive lattes. She almost had an obsession with the caffeinated drink—almost. She didn’t have to her own espresso machine at home, but was saving the money.

Speaking of which, she blinked once, and suddenly, with the snap of a crackle of lightning, Violetta looked out the dreary window of her Divination class. Daydreaming again, she thought with a heavy and her heart sunk like the rain that poured against the glass. Her chin was stuck in her palm as she struggled to pay attention to her professor drawl over death wishes and visions of the past and future. As interesting as it was, Violetta would have rather been in Potions. At least then did she actually care. Or maybe even Transfiguration. That was always fun. Oh, and Charms too! But have you noticed Divination wasn’t at the top of her list? She didn’t know why she hadn’t dropped it yet, assuming she had to come across something that perked her interest in this class in this lifetime, hoping one day that something life-changing would happen. If only.

Her dark hair spilled across her fingers in strands as she played with it, glancing up at the teacher every now and then, having the words go in one ear and out the other. Everyone was dressed in their robes, one thing Violet never took pleasure in seeing. She felt like they were at a Muggle catholic school, at least, that’s where one of her only Muggle friends told her that she went. All in uniforms, she commented. Almost like hers. She made sure to hide the emblem on her school’s jacket as she showed her. But was it her who was the only one with spunk to wear different shoes or a few fashionable bracelets every now and then? Next thing you know, the whole place would be like a factory for robotic students who performed magic perfectly. Now she knew that would never happen.

But as she sat there, a yawn escaping her lips and the thunder rumbling like growling stomach outside, she knew she’d have to believe in anything to get her mind off of this class. Watching the professor beckon for everyone to glance at their crystal ball that sat still in a small, metal claw on the table, so could practically count on both her figners and toes at how many students scoffed and rolled their eyes at the whole idea. So at least she knew she wasn’t the only one hoping. They were all sixth years waiting for a miracle to happen in Divination class.
